Clavius Crater

Observing Location: Sue Rose Observatory, Southold, NY

Equipment: 14-inch Orange Tube Celestron SCT, 13mm Ethos Eyepiece, Cell Phone Camera

This photo of Clavius was taken on March 17, 2019. Clavius is a 140 mile wide crater with a crescent shaped string of craters on its floor. Clavius was made famous in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey, as the home of the monolith. Hold your ears!
